When will slides/lectures be posted?
Dear Students: This email is intended to review the process of posting LGS slides and recorded lectures in the response to frequent inquiries on the issue.
The matter has been discussed with me and with Dr. Whyte, the Assistant Dean. We have determined that the best way to deal with these concerns is to explain the exact process by which lecture archives are posted, the caveats of this process, and the intended use of the archives. Any further student inquiries which can be answered by the information provided in this email will not be answered. The information will also be made available through the medportal help system for future reference.
Please rest assured that we understand how useful the slides and recorded lectures are to you and that our staff really does try their best to get them to you in a timely way.
To help you understand the process, this is the process the staff goes through to handle slides and lecture recordings:
- We ask the lecturers for slides and consent to videotape when their talk is booked.
- The curriculum assistant sends a reminder out the week before each lecture, including another request for slides and signed consent forms.
- Your MF class reps follow up to collect any outstanding lecture slides and consent forms from the presenters at LGS.
- When the curriculum assistant receives the slides, she/he posts them on medportal as soon as possible.
- Consent forms are sent to medportal staff as soon as we receive them.
- medportal staff will post recorded lectures
- When they have received a signed consent form
- When they have completed any edits required to the archive
- Normally once a week on Fridays
A few reminders:
- The purpose of archived lectures is for review. They are not intended to replace attendance at LGS.
- The MD Program does not warrant that any lecture or accompanying slides will be posted on medportal.
- Not all presenters are willing to share a copy of their slides.
- Not all presenters are willing to sign a consent form to be recorded.
- Lectures are never posted without the presenter’s signed consent.
- There is absolutely no guarantee of same day availability. Staff will post slides and lectures as soon as they reasonably can, given their work load.
I hope this email will clarify these issues for our students. Kindly refrain from filing requests or complaints if your issue can be addressed by the information above. If there is an extenuating circumstance surrounding your request please direct it to support@medportal.ca.
Thanks,
Cathy
