Understanding My Placements
Overview
The compulsory components of the Clerkship are carried out in teaching practices and in all the teaching hospitals in the Hamilton region; in community hospitals, including those in St. Catharines, Guelph, Brantford, Burlington, Niagara Falls and the Kitchener-Waterloo region, and in association with the Northwest Ontario Medical Program. The Clerkship Placement System (CPS) is used to assist with the placement of students in their required rotations in a fair and even manner. Numerous considerations are taken when running the system, including a Karma system which ensures students who in the past have not enjoyed optimal placement receive some extra consideration during selection.
How it works
Start by navigating to https://www.medportal.ca/ug/placements
From the menu on the left, access each rotation marked with a "?" and check for a green "Save" button. If the "Save" button is present, you need to rank the site options for this rotation.
You will be sent email notifications to perform rankings for specific rotations.
Hamilton campus students will have the option of sites within Hamilton, but please note that some of the available sites may also be in locations within our distributed medical education network outside of Hamilton. Students find these sites offer extremely valuable educational experiences including an abundance of hands-on experience and one-on-one teaching. Students located at the Distributed Campuses in Waterloo and Niagara will have the option of sites within their campus region and will have priority selection for these.
All inquiries or requests pertaining to the content of your rotation should be directed to the clerkship rotation administrator.
Should you experience any technical issues please email support@medportal.ca or call (905) 525-9140 x22961 for immediate assistance during business hours.
