One time copy of events (not synced)
To make a one time copy of the events in your calendar and have them appear in Outlook, you will need to export an .ical file from your medportal calendars and import it into Outlook. The steps to do so are below.
NOTE: This will not sync events entered in the future, nor will it reflect changes made to already existing events. It is a one time, static copy.
ALSO NOTE: Only calendars in your "My calendars" list will be available to be copied in this way. If you would like to see events for your class calendar, see below.
- In your medportal email, click "Settings" beneath the list of "My calendars"
- On the Calendar Settings screen, click "Export calendars" beneath your list of "My calendars"
- Download or save the .zip file and uncompress it to a location on your hard disk that you will remember.
- In Outlook, click "File" --> "Import and Export..."
- Select "Import from another program or file" and click "Next >"
- Browse your computer for the contents of the zip file. There will be an .ics file for each of the calendars in your "My calendar" list. Select the calendar and press "OK".
- Outlook 2007 will at this point give you the option of creating a new calendar for these events. You may choose if you would like to have these events in another calendar. The advantage is the events will be colour-coded. The disadvantage is you will need to re-setup any syncs you have created with mobile devices if you want to see reminders for these events on your device.
- You can now see the imported events in your Outlook calendar. Repeat steps 4-7 for each of the other calendars you want to import.
